Sweet (and Fruity) News

Surprise!!

Our little family is growing!

I am, without a doubt, knocked up
and expecting our first little munchkin in early December!

Check out that noggin!
This is no surprise (sigh).. both of us have larger than "0ne-size-fits-most" heads.

We are over the moon excited and thrilled to finally be able to share the big news. We had our 12 week appointment yesterday, which means my first trimester finish line is in site!

It's been both a long and quick 3 months for me (contradiction, much?)... I haven't been feeling great and have had the energy level of a elephant after a sit-down buffet: ZERO. However, with so much going on, time has flown by and I can hardly believe we're nearly a third of the way to meeting our lil baby. :)

The obligatory bump watch:
12 Weeks

I was happy to learn that I have not gained any weight yet- though my special friend "bloat" comes and goes like a clingy ex-boyfriend. (Last week you could swear I was in my 5th month). I definitely have more going on in front, but at least today wasn't too bad for the photo session.

It cracks me up how all the pregnancy books compare your growing baby to various fruit. This week she/he is the size of a lime! (I'll never look at a margarita the same again!)
At our appointment yesterday, our doc noted that the lil bugger was just laying there at the bottom of my uterus like she/he was chillin' in a hammock.

Since I am a total dork, I put this together for your visualizing pleasure:

Hubby thinks the baby is like me- always looking to lay down and nap.

I would just like him/her to pick a new spot to settle in- right on top of my bladder is not going to fly for another 6 months!

I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.

..:the silence is deafening:..

Tap, tap.. anyone still there?

Here I am!
I'm alive.. still kicking!

Sorry for the blog silence, peeps! Trust me, it was important
and part of something bigger than all of us.

By me staying "silent" in blogland for a month and a half, I have helped raised funds for important research in the fight against hair loss.

This is a billion dollar a year industry that is sucking the life out of normal people like you and me
who struggle with pre-mature hair thinning and loss on their extremities.

It has been heart-wrenching to read story after story of clogged drains,
dwindling ponytails and forearm bald spots...

(Insert MAJOR sarcasm)

Kidding!! :)

For those of you who don't know me too well, sorry bout that! Hehe.

In truth, I have just been plain busy and keep starting blog posts that never get finished. Perhaps someday you'll be lucky enough to read the completed literary gem titled Blippity Bloppity BLOAT, but for now you'll simply have to imagine what you're missing.

Here are a few highlights of what I've been up to:
  • Traveled to KC for a week with my mom for major surgery
  • Got rear-ended on the highway during the morning drive (still without my car, grrrr)
  • Traveled across the sea to the island of Maui for a much needed vacation
  • Was nearly forced to become an islander when my dark complexion and Duggar-esque length hair confused the locals, who thought I was one of them. Things got tricky, but I'm quick on my feet and I made it back stateside.
  • Discovered something growing on my body that was both foreign and traumatic and has without a doubt scarred me for life... a 1 1/2 inch white hair. OH THE HORROR.
  • Caught the worst cold known to man at the hospital and paid for it dearly with a solid week from hell
  • Celebrated our second wedding anniversary (love you baby!)
  • Lived through what can only be described as the most acute state of bloat EVER documented in a single day. I got the dreaded "when are you due!?" and "how many are in there??" in the same outing and seriously considered stepping into traffic (I kid, I kid). But don't think for a minute that I didn't send in pictures to the Guinness Book of Records for some kind of recognition. My bloat will not be in vain!
  • Moved from my linen closet of an office to a larger one with a WINDOW. All I can see is a telephone wire and dumb pigeons who try to fly in, but I'll take it.
  • Battled a nasty little case of eczema on my hand (what is up with my body lately??)
  • Renewed my childhood love of ants on a log, sans the ants
I think that's it! You're all caught up, do you feel better?

Good.
