Beckett :: Six Months
Six big ones! I CANNOT believe that Beckett has been with us for half a year!
I just don't think I could love this little guy any more. He is the best baby and so squishy and mushy and edible. I could seriously stare at this sweet face all day! :)
It's been quite the big month. Lots of growing and changes! I feel like he has been teething for months, and I keep seeing little white dots of teeth pop through. But they must float back down (??) or something, because nothing has actually broken through. We have had a few rough days in there and lots and lots of drool. Praying something pops out so he gets some relief soon. But honestly, his "fussy" is not all that bad and I love the extra snuggles.
This boy somehow got huge this month. Or at least it feels that way to me, since I'm the one lugging him around all day. He.is.heavy! He weighs 20lbs, which is more than Evie weighed at a year! He's like a little tree trunk. Just solid. His chunky thighs are too much cuteness to handle. :)
Beckett has finally started to really roll around. He will sometimes get stuck in the corner of his crib, on his belly, and will wail until we come and flip him over, lol. So funny. But he does seem to like to sleep on his tummy sometimes. I love watching him roll all around while he puts himself to sleep.
Speaking of sleep, it is finally getting better! We transitioned upstairs to his room and crib about a week and a half ago. We missed him being in our room immediately. :( But it has been good, despite multiple trips up there each night. It was time, and the pack n play just wasn't that comfy for him. He just wanted to be in bed with us, which ultimately led to all night nursing parties. No bueno for mama. Things have started to even out, though, and the past few nights he has only gotten up once to nurse! I will take it! Naps are still mostly of the 30 minute variety, but he will surprise me every once in a while. He is awesome at putting himself to sleep, which is half the sleep battle, in my opinion. I do miss rocking him sometimes, but it's worth the trade off.
Beck also really found his toes this month and loves to shove them right into his mouth. He likes to shove everything into his mouth, really. Oh! And sitting up- we are officially sitting unassisted! He loves to sit up and play near Evie in the playroom and squawk at everything she is doing. He LOVES Evie and she loves him so much. She tells me so nearly every day. :) She'll also tell me how cute he is and talk to him in this high, baby talk voice. It's hilarious and I love it. I can't wait to see what great friends they will become. Beckett also lights up and smiles and starts talking every single day when Daddy gets home. It is the sweetest.
I love you so, so much, Beckett Cullen! You have stolen my heart, my baby, and I couldn't love you more.

Halloween 2014
This year Evie really wanted to be an orange cat.
Whaaaaaaat????
Yeah, I don't know either. But anytime I would ask her, that's what she would say. She was very specific about the orange part, too. I tried to sway her down the black or white cat road, but she wasn't having it. I was distressed, to say the least. Go ahead- search for an orange cat costume on pinterest or amazon and see what you come up with. I thought I would have to buy her a Garfield costume! Finally I decided to work some psychological business on her and showed her some pictures of cute little girls in Little Red Riding Hood costumes.
Done. Sold! She bit and I locked that baby down. :)
I had grand ideas to make Beckett a little wolf costume, but you know, I barely got hers done before the preschool parade, so he wore her old zebra costume and was all kinds of adorable.
She comes up with her own poses, and they don't come from her mother. |

All zebras are pensive, right?? |
We invited some sweet friends over for pizza and to trick or treat with us. It was super cold, so we only made it around the block, but they all made out like bandits. They were hilarious to watch. I love this little crew and can't believe my bestie's oldest is holding my baby. Makes my heart so happy!
Beckett :: 4 & 5 Months
So my little big guy is nearly SIX months now, but I clearly can't be counted on to post his monthly pictures with any timeliness. So here you go- a twofer for months 4 and 5. I did actually take the pictures on time, but that's where my punctuality ended.
So on to the show… 4 months!
This past month was a big one. Beckett's first plane ride(s), hitting up Disneyland, seeing the ocean and putting those cute little toesies in the sand, meeting our cousin and drooling up a storm!
He was a champ while traveling. We were lucky enough to get to spread out on a few of our plane rides, and as long as I was wearing him, this little guy was content! He is such a good tempered baby, even though he only likes to nap for 30 minutes at a time. We're working on it!
5 months.
You continue to be a drool monster and munch on anything and everything that comes close to your face. I was pretty sure I could see a tiny white dot of a tooth on your bottom gum, but I can't see it now. Teething is no fun!
We have successfully moved you out of the rock n play, to the pack n play in our room. I was dreading the transition, but it was much easier than I thought! You started to arch and flail while you were in there sometimes, and I could tell you wanted to lie flat. Most nights I would lay you down next to me in our bed after the 3/4am feeding and you loved it. I think you also just really like our bed and being close to mom and dad. :) We love it too!
We love you so, so much, precious boy, and couldn't imagine our lives without you!

He had no love for the camera this month. |

I promise, he does smile! |
After much debate, we gave him a little hair trim this month. Just a tad off his rat tail and a little over the ears. He has SO MUCH hair! We want it to grow, but it was looking very unruly and it's much better now! He's my little old man.
Beckett has really started to find his voice... he loves to squawk and coo and talk. His favorite times to chat are early in the morning, while we're still trying to sleep, or laying on the bed after a diaper change. I love to nibble his belly and toes and neck and get him talking and laughing. He is such a delight and I could squish and kiss him all day long.
We love you sweet boy!

5 months.
Five big months, my boy! You are growing and growing. You will
definitely be bigger than your sister before too long. We had to go see
the doctor for a bad diaper rash and you were 17lbs! You love to laugh
and watch your sister and the dog. Evie fascinates you and loves you so
much. She is such a big help and I can't wait for the day you guys will
get to really play together!
You have started to act interested in what we are eating… tracking the
fork or spoon to our mouths. :) Once we start solids, I have no doubt
that you will love it. Though I'm not sure I'm really ready!

welcome september
So I started this post over a week ago. Such is my life lately and the reason I rarely blog anymore! Too many other things to do be doing. And as Evie gets older, I try to spend less and less time in front of a computer screen. But I do miss blogging. Anyway…
I am ready for all things fall. Like REALLY ready. And today is definitely delivering! Windows thrown open, crisp breeze flowing in, candle lit, wearing a long sleeve shirt with coffee in hand. (Ok, coffee is always in hand, but you get the idea). LOVING it!
Evie has been doing so great at her preschool. She is always so excited to go and has a great time. She got into some trouble on the second day (!!), but I think she was just testing her boundaries and figuring it all out. I'm really thankful for her teachers, who didn't let her get away with acting out and give her some clear boundaries. It's exactly what my little independent girlie needs.
Me, on the other hand? I totally spaced what day her school actually started, and didn't realize it until the day before. Cue the scramble to gather all the things, including tracking down a rest mat that I'm quite certain will see minimal use. Oh. And I got in trouble on the first day of school:
Post-partum hair loss is for real. And gross. My only saving grace here is that I have enough hair on my head for 2.5 people. So no one will really notice unless they happen to see 2 or 3 long strands plastered to the back of my arm at Target. Again- gross.I am ready for all things fall. Like REALLY ready. And today is definitely delivering! Windows thrown open, crisp breeze flowing in, candle lit, wearing a long sleeve shirt with coffee in hand. (Ok, coffee is always in hand, but you get the idea). Yes, yes I did see the emails. #momfail |
We are heading to the West Coast soon for a wedding and to visit some family. We're planning to hit up Disney Land while we're there and I can't wait to see Evie's reaction. She's gonna flip!
What exactly does one wear to a beach wedding these days?? I seriously have not dressed up in soooo long. I need to update my closet in the worst way, but it's just not easy to do with the little ones. Also? I like to pretend I'm a yogi and wear my sweats most days.
Speaking of stretchy pants, I randomly read an article in InStyle recently about this trend of people wearing work-out type clothing all the time, sans the actual working out. They dubbed it athlesiure wear. I am ALL OVER THAT. I told my hubby that I wanted to just start buying and wearing athleisure type clothing all the time. He was less than thrilled.
The next Vintage Market Days event is coming up in 2 weeks! I am getting so excited, I always love these events. If you're local, I hope you'll stop by our booth, Lilac Row!

I made the first batch of pumpkin muffins on Monday, and by Tuesday, they were gone. I would like to blame my sticky-fingered daughter, but I'm pretty sure I ate my weight in them. Thinking today is a good day to make some more!
Have a great weekend!

Beckett :: Three Months
Our boy is 3 months old today!
This past month has been so much fun. About two or three weeks ago, Beck really started cooing and talking to us a TON! He wakes up so happy and talkative each day and really gets chatty when he's getting his diaper changed or about halfway through a nursing session. It's so sweet. He'll stop once he's eaten some, look up at me and give a big grin and start cooing at me. Melts my heart every time!
Brother hates tummy time, but has a very strong neck, just like his sister did. He still loves to be swaddled and I continue to be his most favorite person in the world. :) I definitely think his eyes will end up brown, which I love. We'll see about his hair! I love it dark, but wouldn't be surprised if it lightens up. This baby is just the sweetest thing in the world. He is so content to hang out and watch his sister play. He mainly only cries when he's hungry and tired. It's so sad and pitiful when he gets worked up. We try not to laugh!
this is my serious face. |
We feel so blessed by this boy and can't imagine our family without him. And is it just me, or is soooo handsome??? :)
We love you to the moon and back Beckett Boy!

First Day of Preschool
So this happened yesterday. I still can't really believe it, but as expected, my girl did great. No tears, no fuss, no real apprehension. Just pure excitement. She marched her little self right in there and hardly looked back.
Cue mama's tears.
Really though, I knew she would do great. Evie is so independent and social and loves basically all school has to offer her. :) I'm so so glad. I hope she always loves learning and reading and is excited to go to school. I am very pleased with and thankful for the program she's in and know she'll grow so much this year. But it's always hard to hand over your child to someone else's care. I was very ready to pick her up and hear all about her day!
My baby girl is growing up... I keep telling her not too, but she doesn't seem to be listening!

Beckett :: Two Months
This big guy is 2 months old!
He has changed sooo much in the past month. I feel like that tiny, delicate newborn-ness is already starting to wear off. Sniff sniff. I think it's because he's such a big eater and is filling out nicely. I stinking love him.
Beck continues to be his daddy's little doppelganger. It amazes me sometimes. He just looks like a little man! In the past week and a half he has really started focusing in on us, tracking me across the room and hamming it up. We can get smiles pretty easily and I can't wait until I hear those first sweet little laughs. He is such a doll!
And as much as he looks like daddy, he looooves his mama. :) I'm not complaining.
This weekend we tried a bottle for the first time and he did great! Nothing like his sister (who straight up boycotted). I think it's because he takes a paci. And he just likes to eat.
His 2 month appointment is tomorrow, so I'll update his stats after that. Can't wait to see how much he's grown! He seems long to me and he has most definitely been gaining weight like a champ. I've already had to put away the newborn sleepers.
We love you little buddy, and couldn't imagine our family without you!

Evie's Big Girl Room {A Gallery Wall}
Progress on Evie's room has been slow going. I have had ideas and plans since we moved in (last August!!), but then life happens and projects take time and things cost money and you get knocked up and your buddy craigslist forsakes you. Sigh.
But some progress has definitely been made, so I thought I would share a bit today. Is anyone even still reading this little blog?? I know I've been absent!
Here is the original amateur inspiration board I put together for her room:
I've stayed pretty true to the colors and feel of the board. Using that floral fabric to make her curtains definitely helped. I love how fun it is.
I actually had another gallery wall up across the room, above her dresser, for a while. But then I decided to hang a mirror over there instead. Not long after, I came across this awesome pic on Pinterest and fell in love. I think it's so cool and different than your typical gallery, and I love how they went all the way up to the ceiling. I would need to gather some more art to truly replicate it, but I'm loving things so far!
Everything up there is a diy project of some kind... framed gift wrap, a diy mirror made from a charger, a framed brass butterfly (flea market find), some original art, etc. I just finished the two watercolors (in the gold frames) and I'm not totally satisfied with them, but I needed to get something up! So those will likely change, and I may add a few other tiny pieces to fill things in.
This Shakespeare quote is puuuuuurfect for my girl. :)
Hopefully I'll have more to share of her room soon!

Beckett :: One Month
Our boy is 1 month old already!
I'm pretty sure I said this with Evie, too, but it feels like he's always been with us. This sweet little nugget just fits seamlessly into our family. He has truly been a dream baby and I couldn't be more thankful!
He is a great eater (and takes it very seriously), and is definitely filling out. I'm guessing he's right at 8 lbs by now. We exclusively nurse and he eats every 2 1/2 - 4 hours during the day and every 3-4 at night. He either falls asleep on me or goes right back into his Rock n Play during the night, so I really can't complain! Such a little love.
He's starting to stay awake longer during the day, which is fun. I think he is his daddy's twin at this point, but he is 100% a mama's boy and likes to be swaddled. :) Car rides are hit and miss, but overall pretty good!
We are still getting used to being a family of four, and all that entails... but overall things are wonderful. Evie loves her baby brother and is so sweet with him.
