I totally have Christmas and holiday decorating on the brain. I can't wait to drag everything out of the attic and deck our halls. If our roof wasn't so steep and unclimb-able, I know hubby would have strung up our lights the day after Halloween.
Anyone with me??
In our living room, we have 4 big windows overlooking the backyard. Which I love. I haven't put up any window treatments yet, and actually I'm not sure when I'll get around to it. I love the unblocked view and all the light that floods in.
So what I would love to do is hang 4 pretty wreaths on those windows, like so:
I would really love to have some gorgeous, preserved boxwood wreaths but they are so stinking expensive! And I no longer have access to any real boxwood clippings. Sad face. So I've been trying to come up with another wreath idea I can DIMyself. I like (and have made) a book page/leaf wreath, which I like. But I feel like the greenery of the boxwoods would bring that natural feel I really want...
So if you have any sources for great, CHEAP preserved boxwood wreaths, help a sister out! I've heard Trader Joe's has some around Christmas, but we don't have those around here. :(
Have you started decorating for Christmas yet??
I love hanging wreaths in windows like that! I've done it with simple plain green wreaths the last two years and hung them with red ribbon. So pretty! I would love some boxwood wreaths too, but yikes buying multiple would add up.
ReplyDeletethe pic ideas you've shown are neat! simple and pretty!!! we have lots of box wood here in Ks. i'll send U all the clippings U need!!
ReplyDeleteThose will be amazing! I saw you are working on some, but last year, they had some great fresh options at Lowes. I also bought myself a faux boxwood wreath for my front door that I love.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of holiday decor--classic, simple greens! Seriously why is preserved boxwood so spendy? I have the one Smith & Hawken wreath from Target & that was almost out of my budget ;-) I'm thinking of going w/ fresh seeded eucalyptus (though they're as intense of a green) & evergreen sprigs from our yard this year for our mantel. They're super cheap at the grocery store.
ReplyDeleteTry Trader Joes. $10 wreaths. They'll dry out by the end of the Christmas season, but the look is priceless!
