Wait, what day is it?

Is it just me, or was that the loooongest weekend EVER?

Seriously, it feels like Sunday night, rather than Tuesday. I'm all discombobulated. Or something. And tired. Oh, so tired.

We had the Vintage Market Days event Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and honestly, it was so much fun. I am so, so glad my friend Sarah joined up with us to do the event! She had some great stuff to sell and it was fun getting to hang out with her all weekend. We were all sweaty and nasty for three days straight, but you can't exactly wrinkle your nose at someone who wants to buy something from you when you smell just as gross and have sweat dripping down your thighs. Things like un-smudged mascara and dry undergarments had no place at this event people. It was just too hot. Like 103 degrees hot. Welcome to the surface of the sun.

A few pics from our booth. You can see more over here.

Thank you so much to all of our friends that came out and stopped by to say hi! And an old school Shout Out to Margi (hope I spelled that right! Eek!), who made me sweat a little extra when she stopped by to say hi and that she reads this blog. So nice to meet you!

All in all, the event was a success. Let's be honest. Any time there's a nice little profit margin, that's a success in my book. But really- despite the horrid heat, it really was fun. I loved everything about it- from hunting down and making/refreshing all our goods to setting up and styling the booth to hanging out with my bestie all weekend. It's also helpful to have a handsome, strong husband to help with all the heavy lifting. ;)  My mom could only come for a little bit of the time, and she helped out a lot with Evie while I was gone, so it really worked out great.

But tired? Yes. Full disclosure- I sweat so much while I was there that I physically had to make myself go to the bathroom. Gross, right? You're welcome.

After all of that hullabaloo, we packed up to head to my hometown on Monday morning for a quick visit while my grandparents were driving through. My aunt also flew in from Colorado. We just got back home this afternoon and I'm just starting to feel normal again.

So... Tuesday, right? I guess that just means Friday is closer! How was your weekend?

The Aftermath

I love love Christmas, but boy the week after everything is over sure feels like a sucker punch. Like the wind is just knooooooocked out of you and you wake up on the kitchen floor with an annoying headache and that bloaty pms feeling, looking around your house, wondering who let in that dumb cartoon Tasmanian devil and what he's done with your dog.

No? Just me??

Mmmkay.

We had a Holly Jolly Christmas, to say the least. Festivities and cheer and goodness and OH MY the food! Santa and all his helpers were good to us, as we were very very nice this year. I scored my coveted 80's Glam Sharpies and Evie can now play with her own potty and all is right with the world.
Sharpies + Rock Star Planner = Happy Dance.

I randomly found these fun gifts for the girls in my office. Totally wish I had bought one for myself and waaay better than slaving away in the kitchen, making sub-par baked goods.
My mood of choice.
Peckish. Somewhat hungry.

Duh.

Our office, by the way, is a complete ghost town this week. Seriously, NO ONE is here. Except me. And Pandora. And so we're making the best of it.

This one got to wear her Christmas jammies two weekends in a row, thanks to our celebrations spanning the last two weeks. No complaints here, as she looks particularly fetching in red. Fat Santas not necessary, but welcomed.

And finally, as much as hubby and I are daily annoyed and frustrated with our dog, Evie seems to love him. She likes to sneak up and goose him and crack up when he jumps.. grab his bone and wander around with it while I yell "yuck yuck, put it down!"... and last night she wanted to get right in bed with him. He tolerates her and gets in a lick when I'm not looking. Yuck yuck. But this was undeniably adorable.

Hoping to post a few Christmas pictures before the New Year. Fingers crossed!

Stocking Stuffers {My Wish List}

Hubby and I only do stocking stuffers for each other for Christmas. We have a price limit on the gifts, too, and we both really like doing our gifts this way. As much as I love finding the perfect gift(s) for all my family and friends, things do add up! So this works out perfectly for us and we still have a few things to open up on Christmas morning.

I thought I would share a few of the items on my Stocking Stuffer Wish List this year:

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)
by Mindy Kaling

I think both Katie and Jenny mentioned this book recently, and it looks like a funny, light read. I just finished The Hunger Games trilogy, so I'm due for a little comedy.

Penguin Classics Hardcover Books

I frankly want every single book they've put out with these fun hardcovers. I LOVE them. But I requested we start with the Jane Austen books, since they're some of my all time favs.

A pretty necklace from LOFT.
(Sorry no pic. Too lazy to try harder than rightclicksaveimage at the moment).

Fur-Lined Hoodie from Old Navy.

Why scream "I'm so freakin cozy right now!" when this hoodie can do the talking for you? Am I right? Sign me up. And no, I'm not worried that this won't fit into my stocking. Ball that sucker up and stuff it in there! ;)

Rondell Necklace from The Limited.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for a long, delicate necklace. And it's on sale!

Sharpie Ultra-Fine-Point Markers {80's Glam}

Hello, Sharpie and I have had a long lasting love affair over the years and I'm not about to give that up. These fine point markers would be PERFECT to write all my lists in the new planner heading my way! GAH! So excited. And an 80's GLAM set??? Seriously, right up my alley.

So what's on your list this year? Do you do stocking stuffers, too, or regular gifts? OR BOTH??? :)

Hi!

Hi! We just got back last night from a great trip to Southern Californina, hence my bloggy absence :)

This little one slept in until 9:45, which meant I was able to sleep in until 9! There is nothing like sleeping in your own bed.

Be back soon to share about our trip and some fun pictures! Happy Sunday!

I Won!

Ack!! I am so excited! I just found out I won a contest on one of my all time favorite blogs- Enjoying the Small Things.

I won a gift certificate to Bambaroos, an adorable Etsy shop with the cutest little headbands for Evie!!! I've been wanting to find her some of these headbands, and have even contemplated making some! Check out the adorable-ness:

Thank you so much to Kelle at Enjoying the Small Things! If you haven't checked our her blog, you totally should. She's a great writer and takes amazing pictures. I got hooked when I read her story in Parents magazine while pregnant.. when her second daughter, Nella, was born, it was discovered that she had Down Syndrome. Kelle shares her story beautifully, and with such honesty. And they just celebrated little Nella's first birthday!

Anyway, what a great little Monday surprise!

Oktoberfest

Hello friends!

October has been a very busy month around here, hence my absence from blogland. This is the first Saturday morning in weeks where I've been able to sleep in to my heart's content and have no major plans. I love it except my body went rogue on me and decided to wake up at 7:30am. Definitely NOT my idea of sleeping in. Sigh.

So here is a quick pictoral shake-down of what I've been up to:

I decided that I would not fall victim to the retails gods yet again, and decided I could craft my own fall wreath. I was happy enough with it to make one as a birthday gift for a friend! Don't ask me to do the cost breakdown to prove how much $$ I saved, because frankly, I'm a little afraid that the warehouse workers in China might just have bested me. I'd just rather not know.

Hubby got the FANTASTIC news of a great new job with an amazing company, so we went out for a little celebrating.

I don't mean to make it about me or anything, but I'm thinking I could seriously use a full time hairstylist! Sheesh.

We had a really fun girl's day for my very pregnant friend S, instead of a full-blown baby shower.

(It's her second baby and the etiquette police were breathing down our necks.)

This is the little Moses basket I gave her, stuffed with diapers, wipes, onsies and other cute little baby items. It was really fun to put together.

Here are my toes, post-pedicure. Much needed.

We visited a pumpkin patch, like all good Americans, and selected the best looking, high-dollar gourds we could find.

After a few pics, we promptly put them back and headed for Aldi, where I picked one up for $2.50!

Hubby started demo on the shower in our master bath... ugh, what to say about this. It still looks like this, after 2 1/2 weeks, how's that? I'm very thankful that he's been home to deal with the contractor, plumber, etc. All should be completed by next week and I can't wait!

I decided to get risky in the kitchen and attempted some stuffed peppers. The lesson here is to make sure you have all the ingredients called for before starting to cook. Also, making substitutions is best left to the professionals or at least those who cook more than once or twice a week.

Even this picture gives me away- the focus is on the store bought cheesy bread rather than the main course!

To hubby's credit, he ate one and a half of these baby's and said they were great.

Above mentioned friend S had the baby!! A healthy and perfect little boy. We were very excited to meet him.

My concern here is that she has now used 2 names on our favorites list... Grrr. :)

However, she had no idea at the time, since I never tell the baby names I like and her kids are just stinkin adorable so it's hard to be mad. Plus, she's one of my best friends in the world!

Is dibs-ing even allowed with baby names???

We went to a U2 concert! It was awesome. A little chilly but lots of fun.

The Black Eyed Peas opened for them and put on a great performance- very high energy.

My camera battery died, so I have no pictures of U2!!
_______________

Okay! I think you're up-to-date!! I've also been working on a few projects here and there, but nothing completed to show you today.

Have a great weekend!!

Your Royal AWESOMEness

Yeah, that's right kids- ME!

I have been so graciously dubbed Queen of Awesome by my friend Katie over at It's in the Details.

(Go check out her blog RIGHT NOW! Yes, I am feeling a little bossy this morning, but I have just been named Queen and I think I need to make up for lost time.)

I have to say, upon reading the news of my coronation, I pushed aside my "aww, shucks" grin and immediately went in to full-on Queen Mode.

I have been strutting around with my coffee and my chin in the air, giving scornful looks to the unmade bed, dirty dishes and wilted plants. Ungrateful subjects!

I've also already taught my dog to address me as "Your Highness." I'm contemplating some sort of a jester outfit on him to really seal the deal...

And strangely enough, I feel a new, deeper connection to Ron Burgundy.

"I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal"

This award and appointment also really appeals to my competitive side. I'm not sure if any of you knew this or not but I LOVE to win. I'm not athletic or into sports necessarily (it just wouldn't befit a queen), but take me bowling or get out the cards or scrabble board and I am ON. My husband (who is also fiercely competitive) and I nearly broke up after one maddening game of scrabble. But I WON! (Sorry babe!)

(Is it just me or do I have like, a million things in parenthesis in this post???)

Okay, back to business! Due to my Awesomeness, I must tell you 7 things that make me truly awesome. Here goes nothin':

1. I am married to a stud.

Here he is, doing what else?
Just WINNING a very competitive game of ladder ball.

2. I can make Grandma's tortillas.

And I mean make them gooooood. We could live off of these babies.

(Full post on these will come, oh I don't know, at some point during my reign)

3. I am a bargain hunter
No joke- half of my house has been furnished from craigslist, TJ Maxx, hand-me-downs and a variety of thrift stores. Or I made it with my own two hands. I could say it's because I'm green and trying to use repurposed old objects or because I am currently unemployed and trying to stretch my dollar.. but really it comes down to the fact that I am awesome. And I love the thrill of a great piece at half the price. Plus, you would never know it by looking. Come over some time and check it out!

4. My most loyal subject is this guy:

That dumb stuffed otter thought he could attack me?? Not so fast!

5. I have awesome siblings!

And soon, the sassy little gal on the left will be joining the ranks as my sister-in-law!
Woo hoo!!

6. I have been able to recite the alphabet backwards.. since the 3rd grade.
Frank, a tall black kid in my class, doubted my abilities. But lo and behold, we had an assembly that very afternoon and when they asked if anyone thought they could manage this great feat, my hand shot up like a rocket! And there, before the entire elementary school, I felt the clean rush of VICTORY.

7. I am a sharpshooter.

No, I have not heard from the FBI, the NRA or even our local police department. Yet during this, my first ever experience shooting a fire arm, I NAILED IT. Right through the bulls eye, baby!

There you have it folks! Seven reasons why I am the Queen of Awesome :)

Thanks Katie!!

Now, as I am still relatively new to blogging, I don't really have any other blogger friends to pay this Awesomeness forward to... The Pioneer Woman is definitely awesome, and so is Centsational Girl...

Who else in blog-land is awesome?? Help me out folks, I need more awesome cyber friends!
